aimless?
Lets just assume that no one reads this anymore. Then I shall proceed. It's been a year since I graduated, and I'm not sure why I was in such a rush to finish. School meant people, gatherings, academic debates, conferences, free time and lazy sunny days. Work means trapped at a desk, isolation, repetition, redundancies - meaning that I'm not where I want to be and impatient about getting there. Harder still, or maybe just the same, is the balance between home life and work life. Shall one be sacrificed for another? It is possible to have it all? Are we the greedy generation, trying to have the ideal job, the ideal amount of free time, and the perfect friends and family? Or perhaps it's just BC, where play outside is valued more than work, and is skewing my original plan.
When young, one is expected to work for experience, not money. To listen and learn, rather than lead and experiment. At what point does that change? Are we also greedy for acknowledgement, selfish people who want every deed noticed and appreciated? It's no longer enough that we are simply granted a place in the workforce. And why is that? Do we have more value than past generations? Has widespread university education influenced the need for recognition and value?
So what do I want? Acknowledgment, appreciation, fun, adventure. I want it all, at my 'young' age. Patience to get to that level I lack. I also want social gatherings, potlucks and people around like it used to be. Roommates - who lives alone? It's so...alone.
Ah, complaint after complaint. Getting time to enact a change me thinks.

Big Hugs Michelle. For what its worth, I really miss living with you, B and T. Sorry I didn't come up and visit, that whole 'career focus' thing is starting to consume my life. I'm off to Ottawa tomorrow for co-op and likely long-term work; if you're ever in my part of the country come look me up!

Hey Meesh - I still peek over here every now and again!! What are these possible changes that you're thinking of?? With regards to people being consumed by work, both the boy and I agree that we want to 'work to live,' NOT 'live to work.' We're planning towards both working 0.8 instead of 1.0, so we can do just that! :D

So from time to time I come across an old bookmark on my computer and check up on you. Let me tell you, I hear ya! I now live alone, doing school, but this one is significantly less social than the previous leaving me generally starved for social interaction and excitement. The wilderness will soon be calling me out from behind my desk. Hopefully your up coming changes have come and solved your problems.
